Maureen Steltman
Since1997, Maureen has been involved in Fraser Academy, a leading educational institution for students with dyslexia and language-based learning differences in Vancouver, BC. As Head of School (2014-2022), Maureen led the school to attain Orton Gillingham and CAIS Accreditations, introduced NILD Educational Therapy and Executive Function Curriculum, conducted primary research in the efficacy of these teaching practices, and launched an outreach centre, FAx ,that provides services to learners from anywhere, alongside international teacher training. She is known as a caring and proactive leader, who sets the bar high and inspires continuous improvement, providing the foundation for each and every student and teacher to prosper.
Maureen holds a Masters in Business Administration (Royal Roads University) with a specialization in PR & Communications, Independent School Teacher Certification and an Orton-Gillingham training certificate. From 2010-2022, she served on the Board of FISABC (the Federation of Independent Schools Association of BC)
Now retired, Maureen spends her time between Vancouver and Guanajuato, Mexico, where she is currently volunteering to assist an Independent School to improve their teaching practice and student outcomes.
